Monthly Series

New York Film Critics Circle at the Paris

Monthly screening series - programs announced through April!

DETAILS

In 2025, the Paris Theater is proud to continue our monthly screening series with the New York Film Critics Circle, in which members of the NYFCC appear in person at the Paris to introduce a film close to their heart, often followed by an on-stage conversation with one of the actors or filmmakers.

This year, the NYFCC celebrates its 90th anniversary as an organization that honors excellence in U.S. and world cinema. For several of our screenings, NYFCC members have selected films that the group has honored at its annual awards ceremony throughout its 90-year history.

In January, Amy Taubin will join us to introduce Far From Heaven (screening on 35mm), Todd Haynes’ 2002 homage to the lush melodramas of Douglas Sirk. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with cinematographer Ed Lachman (also the Academy Award®-nominated cinematographer for Pablo Larrain's Maria) moderated by Taubin. Far From Heaven won five NYFCC Awards, including Best Film, Best Supporting Actor (Dennis Quaid), Best Supporting Actress (Patricia Clarkson), Best Director (Todd Haynes), and Best Cinematography (Ed Lachman).

Richard Brody appears in February to present Charles Chaplin’s The Great Dictator, for which the NYFCC awarded Chaplin its Best Actor award in 1940.

March will see critic Elizabeth Weitzman introduce Robert Altman’s Nashville, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. The film received prizes for Best Film, Best Director, and Best Supporting Actress (Lily Tomlin) from the NYFCC.

And in April, Jason Bailey will present Tony Scott’s True Romance in celebration of the release of Bailey’s new book Gandolfini: Jim, Tony, and the Life of a Legend about the late actor James Gandolfini. Screening to be followed by a book signing with Bailey.
