The Paris Theater is proud to present Strong Black Lead at the Paris, a special weekend of free community screenings featuring powerful films that each offer a unique perspective on Black experiences throughout American history. Whether based on true stories or inspired by lived experience, these six films by gifted, visionary artists are essential viewing.

Screenings of Rebecca Hall’s 2021 award-winning film Passing, starring Tessa Thompson and Ruth Negga, The Piano Lesson - Malcolm Washington’s adaptation of August Wilson’s Pulitzer Prize winning play - and Tyler Perry’s The Six Triple Eight (starring Kerry Washington) will play with pre-recorded introductions from the filmmakers, while new classics including Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods, George C. Wolfe’s Rustin (featuring an Academy Award-nominated lead performance by Colman Domingo), and Dee Rees’ Mudbound (featuring Academy Award nominee Mary J. Blige) will round out the weekend.
