Writer-director Joshua Marston's debut feature chronicles the dangerous physical and emotional journey of a pregnant 17-year-old girl who quits her job trimming stems at a rose plantation and drifts into employment as a drug "mule," smuggling heroin from her native land into the United States to pay for her mother's and sister's bills. Catalina Sandino Moreno received an Academy Award nomination for her performance in the lead role.
