SYNOPSIS

Comedian Steve Martin and Broadway luminary Bernadette Peters star in a musical drama about the large and growing divide between the dreams of two people and the grim Depression-era lives they lead ... the distance between their gray world and their imaginary one in which it rains PENNIES FROM HEAVEN. Arthur (Martin) sells sheet music and fantasizes about a world should that behave according to the lyrics of the songs he sells. Eileen (Peters) fantasizes about love. In their minds, these two share a romance, singing and dancing to the popular music of the 1930s. In reality, the affair between the married Arthur and the innocent Eileen destroys them both. Based on Dennis Potter's groundbreaking BBC series.
